I was born and raised in Oakland, California. I took to art at an early age including drawing, lettering, and as a teenager, photography and animation.
1982–1988: Commercial Sign Painter, The Art Sign Company, Oakland, CA.
1989–1991: California College of Arts (Founded 1907 as California College of Arts and Crafts) Oakland/San Francisco. BFA in Graphic Design 1991.
1991–1992: Member of Typographic Staff, Adobe Systems, Mountain View, CA (at the time). Worked on Type 1 PostScript conversions of digital typefaces under license with original type foundries. Also worked with the Adobe Marketing Communications group on their publication Font & Function among other projects for print.
1993–1994: Freelance Design & Photography
1994–2002: Associate Designer, Writer, Communication Arts magazine. Redesigned CA brand identity and the print publication in 1995. Designed CA print advertising, direct mail, web banner ads and other brand materials. Contributing writer.
2002–2006: Freelance Design & Photography
2007–2011: Designer (vendor), Creative Lab team, Google, Mountain View/San Francisco. Worked on Google brand related materials for web and print.
2009–2012: Contributing Designer, Writer, Bicycle Quarterly magazine, Seattle, WA
2012–Present: Art Director, Epsilon, San Francisco, CA
Away from work I enjoy art, film, jazz, the outdoors and travel. I'm also a dedicated cyclist.
